NHS DENTIST
provides a full periodontal service under the NHS.

Out of hours treatment is available every Monday evening until 8:00pm and each Saturday morning.

The current price charged by the Government can be seen under our Price List section.

The dentist will decide whether you need to see the hygienist in addition to any periodontal treatment that the dentist does for you himself. We will then make a separate appointment for you to see the hygienist. It will last approximately 20-25 minutes. The hygienist surgeries are accessible to the disabled.

HygienistsTreatment consists of removing plaque and tartar from the teeth, cleaning out the pockets between the teeth and the gums and polishing the teeth.

There are those patients who have more serious periodontal problems. The dentist can then refer their patient to the hygienist with a view to performing a longer periodontal treatment, known as a prolonged perio or 10c. This consists of 4 appointments over a three month period. This is also available under the NHS.

We can provide an appointment on the NHS every 10 calendar months. For those patients who want to see the hygienist more frequently, it is possible to make an appointment to see them privately as long as you have had a check up with your dentist within the past year. The price is the same as the price charged by the Government.

If you do not wish to see the hygienist, your dentist will continue to monitor and treat your teeth and gums.

Patients who are on benefit would not be able to see the hygienist more frequently than once every 10 months unless they were prepared to pay.

Patients who are not registered with NHS Dentist

It is possible for another dentist’s patient to see our hygienist. Your dentist would have to complete the form PH2 which we have prepared to make things simple. This would constitute a referral to our hygienist, thereby complying with the General Dental Council regulations. This can be downloaded here and faxed back to us on 0207 610 1110.

You can then call us to make your appointment (these can be multiple within one year of the date of referral) and pay £25 for a 20 minute and £50 for a 40 minute appointment.

Payment must be made by credit card in advance and is only refundable if 24 hours notice is given (8 working hours). For appointments on Monday, a cancellation must be made by the preceding Friday lunchtime (1pm). You will forfeit your payment if this is not done.

There is an accompanying explanatory leaflet, PH1 which can also be downloaded here and should be read carefully for full conditions.
